Everyone is betting on sports now. Whether it’s game totals or player props, most guys have two or three sportsbooks that they regularly play on. We’ve seen the emergence of sports betting “content creators” and yes I put that in quotes because they have no skill set outside of having an iPhone. Some of them have huge followings and are pretty entertaining to watch on social media. That is great. Social media is not real life, a lot of people need to understand that. I’m all for sponsorships and partnerships in the name of getting paid. That’s the point of creating a social media following or building a brand, to monetize off of it. I do it as well, I love making sports content and making money. Here is the issue that I have.
A lot of the time, these creators and sportsbooks are lying to you. No hate on Sketch. Kid is electric, God bless him. Sure, these creators DO bet their own money at times. There is no way they build a sports betting following without having a passion for it. But when you get into the whole “Nuking a 9 unit whale” and “50 unit Max Confident Play”, that’s when I call bullshit. I’ve worked with these sportsbooks and many other creators have too, they know how the game is played. Here is how SOME of these deals are negotiated.
In exchange for making content around their sportsbook and using a code to get people to sign up and deposit on their site, they will create a backend account, with non-withdrawable money so they can “play” and create real slips to post on social media to make it look legit. When in reality, it’s not their real money they are putting on the line. Now Sheff, how can you prove that? Well, there are apps like Pikkit, that record and document all your bets so you can keep track of your wins and losses. Pikkit, being geniuses, can also determine whether the bet came from your account or if it was a “Free” play or bonus play. So if FanDuel gave you a free $20 bet, it knows it was free and didn’t come from your account. So really, all you have to do is look at some of these guys accounts on those apps they are partnered with and it will show you, the 6 leg 10 unit max play they pushed on social media, was really a free play from the sportsbook they work with.

Like I said, I’m sure these guys DO bet their own money. Everyone is betting on sports and I’m sure they are no different. But when they are claiming daily they have $5,000 on a 6 leg parlay and they are living in a 1 bedroom apartment or living with 4 roommates, that math aint mathing. Social media is not real life, it’s strictly for entertainment purposes. Sports betting content is no different.
