Dana White is one of a kind. Brilliant businessman and personally, I love everything he stands for. That being said, I think he may be confusing social media clout with real world influence. Too many “content creators” and “Influencers” think they are important because of their social media following. Dana White launched “Power Slap” thirteen months ago and it has made a big splash on social media so far. Earlier this week, White appeared on the “The Pete and Sebastian Show” and revealed that Power Slap currently has a $750 million valuation.

“So I said, We all got to pony up a million bucks each and get this thing started. That was 13 months ago. It’s a $750 million business, so yeah. I even got power slap cups.”

“I have 20 million followers. This thing already has 13. It’s bigger than the NHL. It’s bigger than the PGA, NASCAR, We’re crushing. We’re about to pass Major League Baseball as far as numbers go, Right?”

Again, I love Dana White, but to say your company that has two people standing across from each other who slap the shit out of each other with no defense is going to be bigger than baseball, is just nonsense. The Power Slap brand is a click-bait, shock factor sport that people tune into for an 8 second clip because of how ridiculous it is. There is no strategy or game plan. I’m sure he would argue that but obviously he is going to stick up for his brand. Bottom line is social media numbers don’t equate the value of a brand. We see half naked chicks shaking their ass with no skill set on social media every day, their brand isn’t more valuable than baseball or hockey. Anyway, I’ll still be watching TikTok clips from Power Slap. Have a great weekend folks.
