Center City in Philadelphia is one of the most highly surveilled parts of the city. It just so happens to be the same part of town where 6’7 Kelly Oubre said he was a victim of a hit and run. Oubre was hospitalized for a broken rib, lacerations as well as other injuries.
“We do not have any video evidence or images showing a collision at the reported location. Our investigators have been in that area and at this time we do not have any evidence to show of a hit and run,”
Philadelphia Police Sgt. Eric Gripp
He did return to the 76ers practice facility on Tuesday but there is no timetable for his return to the court. The team did release a statement on the incident.
“A 76ers spokesperson said Oubre Jr. continues to progress from his injuries and has resumed light physical activity with hopes of returning to play in the coming weeks. The organization added that it appreciates the efforts of local police for investigating the situation and the support Oubre Jr. has received from the Philadelphia community.”
I’m all for innocent until proven guilty but this has some Jussie Smollett vibes. One theory is he didn’t really know where he was since he’s “new” to the area. My contention is that this supposedly happened a little after 7pm, how does nobody see or hear a 6’7 man get struck by a car and how was nothing found on camera? We will continue to monitor the situation.
